A fascinating history

The history of Dubai goes back to centuries ago. To the humble beginnings as a place where the Arabs hunted oysters for pearls and caught fishes for a living. It was only a small settlement centered around the Creek at the time. The Creek is a seawater inlet which allowed for a natural harbor for the location. This helped Dubai to develop into a trading hub of the region. That's why the largest markets of Dubai were once located on the sides of the Creek. This is where Dubai's rich cultural and historical heritage is still seen.

Al Fahidi Fort, which was constructed in the eighteenth century, is on the Bur Dubai side of the Creek. You can go inside and visit the Dubai Museum that functions inside this medieval fort. There is an Arish- a traditional summer house of the olden day Arabs- in the courtyard of the museum. The household objects used by the people of those days are displayed inside this Arish. Interestingly, Bur Dubai was home to the ancestors of the present day ruling family of Dubai. It was they who built the Al Fahidi fort centuries ago.

The Gold Souk on the other side of the Creek was once the largest marketplace in the region. It still to this day plays a significant role in the economy of the Emirate. The world's biggest gold ring which weighs a whopping 64 kilograms is in this souk.

The face of the new Dubai

The most happening place in Dubai is the modern neighborhood of it. Before the discovery of Oil in the region, these places were mostly uninhabited. That, though, is hard to believe if you see the city today. This is where all the modern wonders of Dubai are.

The Jumeirah Mosque was built in 1979 entirely in white stones which gives its walls a pristine charm. This is the only mosque open to non-muslims in Dubai. It's definitely worth going inside the mosque to learn about the Islamic and Arab heritage of the region. There is a dress code you must follow to enter the mosque. This mosque is also said to be the most photographed mosque in Dubai.

Burj Al Arab- the iconic sail-shaped hotel is the most luxurious hotel in the world. It even has an underground seafood restaurant called Al Manhara for itself. From the Jumeirah beach, you can witness the hotel in its full glory.

A modern wonder

There are only a few man-made things that can be seen from space. The Palm Island is one of them. The Island was reclaimed from the sea and constructed in the shape of a date palm, a symbolic tree of the Arabian Peninsula. This Island never stops to amaze you. There are literally hundreds of attractions on the Island. The Atlantis resort hotel which is located on the apex of the Palm Island is built over an area of 46 hectares. It will take you weeks to explore this hotel completely.

The Tallest

After visiting Palm Island, you go for a drive through the Sheikh Zayed Road. This road is flanked by large and modern landmarks on its either side. But one of those buildings overshadows all others. The Burj Khalifa. This megastructure standing 830 meters tall has had its place as the tallest building in the world for about a decade now. It can be seen from pretty much everywhere in the city.

Finally, you can go to a shopping visit to any one of the largest malls in Dubai. The Dubai Mall or the Mall of Emirates. After the city sightseeing Dubai tour, our tour guide will drop you off at your location by around 2:30 PM.
